A MAN in his 80s had £500 in cash stolen by pickpockets.

The 85-year-old was walking along Lifstan Way, Southchurch, and had reached the junction with Woodgrange Drive when he was approached by a man with a map who asked him for help with directions.

The victim was aware of the man getting very close to him whilst he asked for help but it was only after he had continued on his way that he realised his wallet had been taken.

The suspect is described as white, about 24 years old and more than 5ft 6in tall.
