Drugs and guns find in house on Canvey
POLICE say they found cannabis, cocaine, guns and thousands of pounds in a Canvey house after tailing a car from London to the island.
Metropolitan Police officers raided the house, in Stevens Close, onTuesday, after discreetly following the car out of the capital, along the A13.
The car arrived on Canvey at about 3.45pm on Tuesday, at which point police detained the people in it and went into the house.
They say about £30,000 was found inside the house, along with between half a kilo and a kilo of cocaine with a street value of as much as £42,000, a cannabis farming operation, two air guns and a stun gun.
Three vehicles were seized and a quantity of what are thought to be stolen goods was also recovered.
Detectives have declined to say what the recovered goods were, or to put a value on the cannabis found growing at the house.
A neighbour, aged 65, who didn’t want to be named, said: “It sounds like a huge haul they have found. It’s a changed world we live in for this kind of thing to be going on. I had no idea. It’s surprising as this area is very quiet and a nice place to live.”
! Two men, aged 31 and 50, and a 30-year-old woman, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs, cultivation of cannabis and handling stolen goods.
They were taken to Barking police station and they were still being questioned yesterday.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said officers had followed the car, after acting on information received.
