POLICE have issued an e-fit of a man they want to identify in relation to a stabbing in Westcliff.

A 35-year-old man was stabbed in the arm with a knife after he tried to help two women in distress at about 1.30am on Saturday, June 27.

The man was with friends at the Plough pub, in London Road, when he saw two women who appeared to be in trouble.

He followed them both along London Road to the junction of Argyll Road, in front of the Trinity Methodist Church, where he was confronted by a number of black men.

He was stabbed in the arm with a knife and needed hospital treatment for his injuries.

Police want to identify the man in the e-fit. 

He was black, aged about 28, 6ft 2ins tall and of slim, muscular build.

He had gelled, loosely curled black hair and wore a purple and blue checked shirt.
