AN MP has given support to a campaign calling for a gold standard test to detect a potentially fatal newborn infection.
Rebecca Harris, MP for Castle Point, attended the launch of Group B Strep Support’s national campaign.
Group B Strep is a number of infections which can cause serious complications that can be life-threatening for newborn babies.
The charity Group B Strep Support is calling for all women to be given a test late in pregnancy to see if they carry the bacteria which can be passed onto their babies.
The charity is dedicated to eradicating group B Strep infections, including meningitis, in babies.
