A BULLY grabbed a schoolgirl by the hair and smashed her glasses because she refused to hand over her mobile phone.
Charlene Carr, 19, admitted attacking the 14-year-old and was ordered to carry out 200-hours unpaid community work and pay the victim £350 compensation.
The attack happened after Carr asked the victim if she could use her mobile phone when she saw her in Chafford Hundred library, on November 25 last year.
The girl claimed she had no credit.
But, as she left the library, in Mayflower Road, Carr approached her a second time, and threatened to hurt her if she didn't give her the phone.
Carr, of Plymouth Road, Chafford Hundred, then grabbed the frightened victim by the hair and deliberately crushed her glasses with her foot after they fell to the ground. She then ran off with the £270 phone. Summing up at Basildon Crown Court, Judge Michael Brooke QC said: "This was nasty, bullying and spiteful behaviour from an 19-year-old towards a 14-year-old.
"You should be thoroughly ashamed."
