PUPILS at a Billericay school were determined to get to the top when their school held a careers day.

Mayflower High School abandoned the normal timetable and bought in organisations to give pupils a taste of the skills they will need in the world of work.

The Bank of England and Barleylands Farm as well as many national and local companies were there. But the favourite and most spectacular contribution came from the Army.

To teach pupils the benefit of teamwork they got teams of Year 10s to build towers on the playing field.

Teacher Tim Beal, from the school's business team, was in charge.
