YOUNGSTERS went on a world tour... without leaving Thurrock.
Year 6 pupils from junior schools across the borough participated in a language day at St Clere's School, Stanford-le-Hope.
A European village was set up, which allowed pupils to practise different languages, including taster lessons in German, Arabic, Italian, Spanish and French.
Teacher Andrer Butler, who organised the event, said: "Pupils enjoyed this challenge as they were able to order food or train tickets, ask for directions, as well as buying clothes in the target language.
"All pupils enjoyed their time in the village and it helped them gain confidence with modern languages."
