A PROCESSION of limos glided through Canvey for a school prom.

The glamorous convoy featured pupils from Castle View School, in Meppel Avenue, who were heading to the bash.

The evening began at 7pm, when non-alcoholic drinks were served in the gardens of Furze Hill Banqueting Suite, in Chelmsford.

The 150 pupils and 32 staff then sat down to a three-course dinner, before moving on to the dance floor for a disco.

Becky Carter, geography teacher and head of year 11, said: "It was an absolutely brilliant night.

"The girls' dresses were fabulous and the boys looked so gentlemanly.

"A lot of boys bought their dates flowers for their wrists, which matched the colour of their dresses.

"The only problem this year was we had twice as many girls as boys.

"It meant some of girls arrived in groups because there weren't enough men to go around."

The pupils, perhaps conscious of the number of girls vying for the accolade, crowned their head of year as queen of the prom - a title which Mrs Carter was delighted to receive.
