Castle Point MP Rebecca Harris visited the pupils at Cornelius Vermuyden School to learn more about children across the world who do not have access to free education.
Mrs Harris visited the school in Dinant Avenue on Canvey and joined the pupils for the MP’s Back to School Day.
Speaking about the visit, a spokesman for the school, said: “Together we can increase global compassion and build a world where all young people are safe and learning in school, not working to survive.”
The day was part of a new initiative, supported by the National Education Union, the One Campaign and Anti-Slavery International.
