A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of robbery after a dawn raid on a supermarket.
Staff were opening up the Co-Op in Butneys, Basildon when the gang of four robbers armed with baseball bats and crow bars burst in.
The raid happened at 6am on Sunday.
A 40-year-old man arrested on suspicion of robbery is still being quizzed by police.
