CHILDREN enjoyed a wiggly wild read at Wickford library on Saturday.
The theme of the special day was recycling and even the importance of worms was part of the information lapped up by youngsters.
With mums and dads at their side children packed into the library in Market Road to gingerly tackle the task of picking up worms to add to their newly made wormeries.
The organiser Sandy Hale said: "It was a great success and the children left clutching their new wormeries. Lots of them had no time to rustle through the leaves of the books as they were enjoying seeing creatures just as capable of rustling through leaves."
