THE Wickford Youth Band and Majorettes has assured people it is still open after receiving a number of concerned calls.
The Echo told last week how the group was struggling to stay afloat and was desparate for new members.
However, troupe chairman Alex Kerr assured people the 30-year-old organisation would fight on and meet all of its planned engagements.
He said: "Yes our numbers are low but we are staying open."
The group meets every Monday in Beauchamps High School's gym, in Beauchamps Drive, Wickford, with the majorettes training from 6.15pm to 7.45pm and the band rehearsing from 7.30pm to 9pm.
Children of all ages are welcome.
