A NEIGHBOUR from hell who persistently blasted residents with deafening music has been silenced with an Asbo.

Lee Goose, of Stromness Road, Southend, was slapped with an Anti Social Behaviour Order after making his neighbours lives a misery by continually playing loud music at his flat.

Residents living in 33-year-old Goose's neighbourhood complained to Southend Council which sent in officers to monitor the situation.

But after Goose breached a notice issued by the council warning him to keep his music down, the authority decided to take him to court.

At Southend Magistrates' Court Goose was made the subject of an Asbo which bans him from playing loud music and from disturbing his neighbours.

He was also fined £200 for breaching the previous council notice and was ordered to forfeit his hi-tech stereo equipment to the courts, much of which will be used by youth projects and schools in the town.

If he ignores the Asbo restrictions, Goose could face a hefty fine or even a prison sentence.

The news has been warmly welcomed by neighbours who had to endure Goose's blaring music, One resident, who did not want to be named, said: "It's been an absolute nightmare.

"There's loud, banging music, but also there is just a lot of noise in general coming from the flat.

"I've seen the environmental health coming round to see him, but he didn't seem bothered by it."

Councillor Ian Robert-son, in charge of public protection and waste for Southend Council, said: "This Asbo results from Goose's continued ignoring of warnings and interventions from environmental health officers, who even seized audio equipment from his home.

"This order will protect residents from suffering Goose's music."
