A DETERMINED dad is planning to swap the wet and windy world of window cleaning for a charity run through one of the hottest, driest places in the world.
Window cleaner Jon Maharajah, 29, has signed up for a 120k run through the Namibian desert, in Africa, in aid of the charity, WellChild.
Jon, of hopes to take part in the 24 hour challenge to run 74.5 miles, next April.
He needs to raise sponsorship pledges of £2,000 before his place is confirmed. He also needs a GPS satellite positioning kit for the trek.
Jon, who works for Liquid Windows, started training earlier this year and has already run 20 miles in the Welsh mountains.
Jon, father of three year old Madison, says he was inspired after reading about the work of the charity, which helps children with terminal illnesses.
He said: "I like a challenge and the money will go to a good cause. My aim is to complete the run in less than 24 hours.
"The training has been tough so far, but I will keep at it "I still need equipment, so if anyone can sponsor me or let me have a GPS unit, it would be great."
