CASTLE Point MP Bob Spink is spearheading plans for a series of rallies across the country to call on the Government to hold a referendum on the new EU Treaty.
As chairman of the Campaign for an Independent Britain, Dr Spink said the British people needed to be given the final say on its ratification.
The Pro-Referendum Rally, to be held in London on Saturday, October 27, will be attended by public figures from across the political spectrum, including MPs, business leaders and trade unionists.
Many fear the new treaty is essentially the same document as the rejected EU Constit- ution.
Dr Spink said: "This campaign is the nation's opportunity to give a show of force for a referendum - and to remind the Prime Minister of public anger about Brussels' latest power grab. The London rally is merely the opening shot of our campaign.
"The Prime Minister cannot disregard the wishes of the people."
