A NEW £850,000 Comet superstore is opening in Southend tomorrow.

The store - next door to the newly opened B&Q store and garden centre - will be unveiled at 9am in Fossetts Way.

Throughout the weekend there will be a variety of family fun taking place.

It will include entertainment from Bart Simpson, a DJ and face painters, while there will also be an in-store prize draw where you can win £500 of Comet vouchers.

Store manager Joanne Broadhurst said: "The team are really looking froward to welcoming Southend people into the new store.

"We have a new format here with more than 2,500 products to choose from, and staff have been given intensive product training to help customers choose between different products.

"We are confident our customers will notice a difference between this store and other electrical retailers in the area."

Comet is the latest development at the former Fossetts Farm, also set to be the site of Southend United's new stadium development, with plans also featuring a hotel and shops.

A new public transport service to get people to and from the increasing numbers of stores in the development has also been started.

Independent bus operators Stephensons of Essex is running a half-hourly service, between the site and the bus station in central Southend.
