A MILKMAN driving a float emblazoned with the logo "delivering milk and much more" caused a hoo-ha when he smashed through a resident's garden wall - leaving a trail of semi-skimmed behind him.

They say it's no use crying over spilt milk, but the Dairy Crest driver was left upset and red-faced after accidentally reversing the float through the wall in Western Road, Rayleigh.

Lawrence Randall, 21, was left gobsmasked when he returned home at 7.30am after a night out to see the drama unfold on his next door neighbour's property.

He said: "He started reversing up my neighbour's drive then sped up, faster and faster.

"Suddenly he swerved the milk float round, smacking it into the wall where the drive forks.

"There was glass and milk everywhere and the float was left wedged between the two garden walls, balancing on some bricks."

Fortunately the float and the driver escaped serious injury. Lawrence grabbed his camera from the car and photographed the scene for the Echo. He said: "The driver was OK, but he seemed a bit grumpy.

"I asked if he wanted a hand, but he said he had already called someone.

"I just didn't expect him to crash. I saw him speed up then heard all the glass bottles smash as he crashed into the wall.

"Everyone was in bed when I got in, so I had to tell them what happened."
