VANDALS caused damage to a car after throwing stones from a bridge.
The VW Beetle was being driving along the A132 at Wickford, between Somerfield and the Wick, when three boys began hurling stones at the car from a bridge - smashing the windscreen and causing £100 damage.
Police are now hunting the boys and are appealing for witnesses.
Bill Stock of Basildon police said: "This was extremely dangerous and reckless and could quite easily have resulted in an accident.
"These irresponsible people need to be found and if anyone has any information about who they are we would like to hear from them."
The boys are all described as aged about 15 and one wore a black jacket.
Witnesses to the incident, which happened at about 2.40pm on Sunday, should contact Basildon police on 0300 333 4444.
