A PATRIOTIC dad has pulled out the stops with a spectacular lightshow at his Southend home to mark the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Mark Sutton, 53, has created the unique lightshow through the use of pixel lighting - allowing the lights and colours to change in time with music.

The property, in Eros Avenue, Southend, has become popular in recent years thanks to his light shows to mark Halloween and Christmas.

The dad-of-three is now hoping his lightshow for the coronation of King Charles III will prove a similar success.

He said: “We wanted to show our support for King Charles in his coronation this weekend, so we have decided to do a coronation lightshow.

“We will have a button mounted at the front of the house, so anyone can press it, which will start the lightshow, with music and everything.

“The music will be synchronised with the lights.

“We have got a version of the National Anthem, which the band Queen did. As well as Purple Rain, by Prince.

“The lights will be on between 6pm and 1am, but if you come and press the button, the show itself with the music will play.

“So that way anyone can come and watch the show at a time when it is convenient.”

Pixel lighting allows users to program and fully control individual lights via digital controllers. This enables a light sequence with every individual light around a piece of music to be made to create a show.

The lights will be on from today until after the bank holiday weekend, and anyone is welcome to visit the home.

Mark’s love of lights and decorating his house came from his dad, who loved both Christmas decorating the property. Sadly, his dad passed away in 2014, and Mark wanted to continue his tradition.

He said: “It is always nice to welcome people and get the community together. It makes me feel good when I see all the smiling faces too and giving people something to smile about.

“I will be back again for Halloween and Christmas as usual as they were both a massive success. These will be for charity again too.

“I am also planning a summer light show too at the moment, with a big flower display.

“So, it is all really exciting.”
