A MAN was stabbed in the head and arm after a row broke out in a Southend tower block.

The victim, who was in his forties, was taken to Southend Hospital with stab wounds to his elbow and left eyebrow after the incident in Quantock Flats, Chichester Road, yesterday.

He was attacked after asking a man to stop being rude to his friend’s mum. When the thug continued with verbal abuse, he was told to leave. He returned 15 minutes later armed with a knife and went for the victim, who was visiting friends at the flats.

Police are not pursuing the case because the injured man does not want to make a statement.

A 21-year-old friend of the victim, who saw the attack, said: “He stabbed him in the elbow then again just above his left eyebrow. There was blood splattered all over the place.

“At one point he dropped the knife and it landed near where I was sitting. It was terrifying.

“After he stabbed the guy, he turned to my mum, but then realised he didn’t have the knife in his hand. I swear he was going to do my mum too.”

Donna Veasey, spokeswoman for Essex Police, said officers were called to the flat at 12.45pm.

She said: “We were called to reports of a man injured and when we arrived we discovered a man in his forties had received stab wounds. The man has declined to make a statement, so there will be no further police involvement.”
