GRIEVING friends and relatives choked back tears as they said goodbye to to Jamie Cummins, the 20-year-old killed in a crash on the A127.

A carriage with two white horses pulled into Southend Crematorium carrying a light blue coffin decorated with flowers spelling out “Jay”.

Men wore light blue shirts and the girls wore ribbons and hairbands of the same shade, as it was Jamie’s favourite colour.

The young crowds were still in shock at the death of Jamie, of Snakes Lane, Eastwood, who was a passenger in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution when it careered off the London-bound track of the A127 and crashed into trees and a road sign.

Driver Christian Fairclough, 36, of Beaver Tower, Eastwood, was also killed in the crash on the fateful night of Thursday, October 24.

The only survivor was Darren May, who lives in the same towerblock, and escaped with only a cut above his eye and injuries to his arm.
