A CAMPAIGN to send a seriously ill girl to Florida has been kickstarted by a neighbour dyeing her hair pink.
Nicki Nicholas, 39, of Kensington Road, Southend, underwent the transformation to raise money for Bonnie Anderson, eight, who suffers from Axenfeld-Rieger syndrome, a genetic condition which affects the heart and eyes.
Nicki, who lives opposite Bonnie and her mother Nicola Lane, is part of a fundraising drive by the community to send the family on holiday.
Nicki said: “The idea for dyeing my hair pink came after a few too many drinks, but anything I can do to help, I will.”
The colour was done free at Silvers hairdressers, in Barnstaple Road, Thorpe Bay, and is the first of many planned events.
Nicki said: “We are hoping to hold quizzes and other things to raise the money.”
