THE leader of Basildon Council has spoken of his relief the £247million regeneration of the Craylands estate and former Fryerns School has not fallen victim to the credit crunch.
After years of delays, English Partnerships, Basildon Council and Swan Housing Group, finally signed up to the 12-year regeneration project, despite assurances it would definitely go-ahead in the past.
The groups have signed a formal agreement which ensures the regeneration will definitely be going ahead, said Malcolm Buckley, Basildon Council leader.
