ELDERLY residents have been forced to abandon their homes after they were flooded by three inches of water.
A burst water pipe caused flooding to two flats in Carne Rasch Court, Ash Tree Walk, Vange.
Basildon fire station sent a crew to the sheltered housing complex about 1pm.
The water board turned off the water supply at 2pm and firefighters made the scene safe.
