PLAYTIME has got a whole lot more exciting for youngsters at a Basildon primary school after their playground was given a £26,000 revamp.

Youngsters at St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School, in Elsenham Crescent, Basildon, came back from half term and found their new playground.

Headteacher Diane Pilgrim said: “The children are so excited, it really has made a difference to playtime, it’s brilliant.

“They’ve got new tyres to swing on, a climbing wall, and lots of playground markings so they can learn a whole host of new games.”

The new equipment, which was funded by Basildon Primary Care Trust as part of a campaign to overcome obesity in children, also includes a decked stage and seating, so the children can put on performances, and a cycle rack and additional wooden shelters.

Mrs Pilgrim said staff would be teaching children using the new markings on the playground floor.
