A NEWLY-opened school sports hall in Hadleigh is set to benefit the whole community, teachers say.

Westwood Primary School’s new hall was officially opened last week, but it will not just be the school that gains from the £300,000 building.

Although the sports hall is owned by Westwood Primary, in Beresford Close, it will be available for community use in the evenings, at weekends and during holidays.

Anette Page, business manager for Westwood Primary, said: “I think it will prove to be a really well-used facility. We are already fully booked for most evenings in the next couple of months.”

Phil Lane, chief executive of Paralympics GB, cut the ribbon to open the hall.

Mr Lane was fitting choice for the role, having previously been headmaster of nearby Kingston Primary, in Church Road, Thundersley.
