CORRINGHAM is set for £229,000 worth of road and safety improvements.
Councillors have welcomed news that work will start this summer.
It is expected the first improvements will start in June, and eventually include footpath and road resurfacing and repairs, street lighting and road sign replacement.
Anne Cheale, Conservative councillor for Corringham and Fobbing ward, said: “We are constantly working to get a fair share of money spent in our ward, and we shall continue to lobby for further improvements in the future.”
Fellow ward councillor, Ian Harrison, added: “Both Anne and I have been pushing for a number of repairs and improvements in this area on behalf of residents and this is great news.”
The Wheatley Road area has been earmarked for £100,000 of improvements, £50,000 will be spent on the Birchwood Road area with a further £44,000 on Weydale and £35,000 on Glenfield Road.
The measures are part of a £2.5million package of road and safety improvements announced by Thurrock Council’s cabinet last month.
