TWO Southend United footballers went head to head with shoppers as part of a challenge on a computer console.

Centre forward Alex Revell and goalkeeper Clark Masters accepted the challenge set by South East Essex College as part of its promotion of Adult Learners’ Week.

Yesterday they were in the Victoria shopping centre taking on members of the public in “brain training” games on a Nintendo Wii.

Marco Scarola, spokesman for the college, said: “Adult Learners’ Week is an opportunity to remind people that learning new skills can be both an exciting challenge and be really fun.

“It’s great to have Southend United players support this initiative and will be interesting to see how they fair off the field against members of the public.”
