On air - Alex Williams, Danny Lawrence, Ros Connors, and headteacher Alan Roach with Chalvedon pupils in their new radio studio
BROADCASTERS have helped launch a new school radio station.
Danny Lawrence and Ros Connors from Gateway FM, Basildon and East Thurrock’s community radio station, along with Essex FM presenter Alex Williams, saw the media department at Chalvedon School, Pitsea.
They all said they were impressed with the studio’s equipment.
The new station is called Radio Jam and the name was chosen after a competition between the pupils.
Year 10 pupil Joshua Newman came up with the winning name which was kept under wraps until the official launch.
Media studies pupils will broadcast their programmes over the internet as part of their coursework.
