SOUTHEND United Football Club have settled their dispute with creditors which could have led to the Blues being wound up in the High Court.
The club and boss Ron Martin’s company Martin Dawn owed £26,000 to an unnamed creditor. At the High Court on Wednesday they were given a month’s grace to pay the debt.
But Dave Scriven, Southend United media manager, said yesterday: “I can confirm both petitions have now been withdrawn.”
This means there will be no further action against either the club or Martin Dawn.
The latest statement confirmed one made earlier by Mr Scriven that the issue had been resolved.
He said there had been “over-reaction” from creditors over the issue, when the one concerned was already holding a deposit of £23,500.
Had the issue not been settled, the club could have faced its affairs being placed in the hands of the Official Receiver. His job would have been to ensure any debts were paid off by selling any assets available.
