TRAFFIC cops stopped 15 drivers during a stop check in Southend this morning.
Six officers conducted the checks near Nazareth House, in London Road, between 7 and 7.45am.
Eight drivers were handed a £30 fixed penalty notice for not wearing a seatbelt.
Two drivers were using a mobile phone at the wheel and were given a £60 fine and three points on their licence.
Two people were also found to have no driving licence. One of these was a learner driver who was given a £60 fixed penalty notice and three penalty points. The other driver had their car seized.
A van driver with no MOT was given a £60 fine and ordered to get his vehicle examined.
A driver with no insurance had their car seized and will be summoned to court. Another vehicle was seized for motoring offences.
