CHILDREN will soon have an £80,000 playground to enjoy in Nutberry Field, off Long Lane, Grays.
The scheme is the latest in the council’s Playbuilder programme, which is upgrading play areas across the borough.
In addition, the council’s community forum has secured extra funding from the Veolia Environmental Trust.
Councillor Diana Hale said: “This has been an excellent example of the council and community coming together to discuss what’s needed and to find the funding.
“I’d like to pass on my thanks to Len Orpin, chairman of the community forum, the Playbuilder team at the council and, of course, all the young people who took part in the consultation.”
The new play area, which should open in the next few weeks, will boast swings, a mound, a zip-slide and a tree sculpture.
