A MAN arrested on suspicion of raping a cyclist has had his bail extended.
The 31-year-old, from Basildon, was arrested following the attack on a woman, 40, in Church Hill, Laindon, on Thursday April 16.
The victim was approached by a man who tried to steal her bike.
The pair then got into a struggle before the terrified woman ran into nearby woodland. She passed out, because of a medical condition from which she suffered and when she came round found she had been attacked.
The man was arrested in Basildon town centre a few days later. He returned to Basildon police station to answer his bail yesterday and it was extended for a further month.
