ARSONISTS torched a speed camera on London Road by putting a tyre around it and dousing it in petrol before setting it alight.
The camera, which stands close to the junction of Lymington Avenue, Leigh, was spotted alight at 3am by a resident living nearby who was alerted by the sound of screeching tyres as the culprits escaped.
A fire crew was immediately called and were able to pull the tyre off the camera, saving it from serious damage.
