SOUTHEND Council is looking for champions to help boost recycling.
It is calling on the public to help encourage recycling and tell others of the benefits.
Two champions are already helping to spread the message.
Patrick Jee, 12, from Southend, recycles all his magazines, bottles and tins, and gets his school friends to do the same.
Patrick said: “Eventually we are going to run out of resources so it is better to renew them.
Former Mayor of Southend Nora Goodman describes herself as “fanatical” about recycling.
The 72-year-old from Leigh said: “I wouldn’t throw anything away if I could avoid it.”

The council is running a Recycle Week and will have a stall at Asda, Shoebury tomorrow, between 10am and 4.30pm.
