A TEAM of solicitors from Southend raised more than £1,000 for charity.

The group of 16 from BTMK, based in Weston Road, took part in the London to Southend bike ride this weekend to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

They completed the 59-mile course despite one bike breaking and another competitor falling into a ditch.

BTMK partner, Yvonne Hume, said: “It was a really good day and everyone enjoyed themselves.

“It was quite tough from the ten-mile point as we were cycling against the winds.

“It was hard work but it was worth it to know we’d raised that much for the British Heart Foundation.”

It is thought the event as a whole raised in the region of £150,000 for the charity.
