A MAN has raised concerns about the telephone company TalkTalk, after he was sent a bill containing another person’s bank details.

Brian Scott, 42, of Toucan Close, Shoebury, received the bill in his name and at his address, but it contained a woman’s account name, number and sort code.

Mr Scott, who has been using the company for five years, said: “I think it’s absolutely disgusting.

“A letter came through confirming a direct debit in my name but with someone else’s details.

“I don’t even pay with direct debit – I use a debit card.

“If these details had gone to someone else, they could have used them to set up direct debits for other things.

“This lady could have had my bank details. I told TalkTalk straight away, but this woman could have been paying for my bill.”

As a precaution, Mr Scott said he cancelled his card just in case the same thing had happened with his details.

“I’ve set up a special check so if any transactions are on the account they have to phone and check with me,” he added.

“I’ve had problems with TalkTalk before, but this is the last straw.

“I need to warn other people to check their bank statements so they aren’t paying someone else’s bills. I rang my mum and dad, because they are with TalkTalk.

“It’s a breach of this woman’s confidentiality. I do feel sorry for her.”

TalkTalk did not respond to the Echo when asked for a comment.
