BLUES boss Steve Tilson has urged two pizza take-away restaurants not to stand in the way of his dream of managing Southend United in a new stadium.

The sale of Roots Hall to Sainsbury’s for a new store is vital to fund the planned new 22,000 seat stadium at Fossetts Farm, including a hotel, flats and new shops.

Blues are thought to have agreed to buy nearly all the shops and other properties around Roots Hall, to ensure the deal goes ahead. But the football club claims two pizza take-away restaurants Super Pizza and Pizza Man, in Victoria Avenue, Southend, are holding up the deal.

Mr Tilson, who often tucks into pizzas after away games, urged the business owners to think again.

He said: "Everybody has been working so hard to try and get the new development going and it's frustrating that its being held up by a couple of individuals.

"I've made it no secret that I see the new stadium as something that I want to be a part of.

"A really Super Pizza for me would be one that was taken-away."
