A YOUNG man was hit over the head during a robbery outside his Westcliff home.

The 27-year-old was approached by two men in Avenue Road who struck him causing him to fall to the ground.

They then rifled through his pockets and took a Blackberry and £180 cash before running away.

The victim suffered a scratch to his face which is believed to have been caused by a shiny object. He was taken to Southend Hospital at about 1.30am on Tuesday January 5 but did not require treatment so returned home to recover.

Both suspects are described as being black, aged in their 30s, and of muscular build. One was 6ft 1ins tall, has short dark hair, and was wearing dark clothing and a dark hoody. The other was wearing a blue denim top.
