A SIMPLE lifesaving scheme is being promoted by Southend Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership.
The free Message in a Bottle scheme is being offered at libraries across the borough.
It is aimed at older and vulnerable people living alone and has proved a great success in Essex.
The bottle is a small plastic container which is kept in the fridge and holds details of the person’s carer or next of kin, medical conditions and GP. This means in an emergency, the information can be easily found and can be a simple, but effective lifesaver.
To date it has helped save the lives of 120 people living in Essex.
Bottles are also available through police stations, local Neighbourhood Watch schemes and the Turning Tides Neighbourhood Management project at Savs.
