SEVERAL events in Southend have been cancelled due to the continuing snow and ice underfoot.
The meeting of the Retired Employees Association of British Gas, which was to be held today at the Conservative Club, in Clarence Street, Southend, has been cancelled.
Also cancelled today, Tuesday January 12, is the meeting of the Southend branch of the Royal Air Nauticals, which was due to take place at the Royal Naval Association in East Street.
A meeting of the Women's Guild of Friends, which was due to take place tomorrow, Wednesday, at Clarence Road Baptist Church Hall, in Clarence Road, Southend, has also been cancelled.
Also affected by the weather was a rush-hour commuter train to London on the c2c line, which was shortened from 12 to eight carriages earlier this morning due to snow which fell in the early hours.
