There were long delays on the A127 in both directions due to engineering works.
There were reports of queuing traffic for eight miles at 8am on the London-bound carriageway of the A127 near Basildon due to gas main work at Childerditch Lane.
There are also long delays on the Southend bound carriageway because two lanes are closed between the Warley and Brentwood junctions due to engineering works.
