A NEW programme has been keeping over 55s in good health.
Hour-long sessions have been organised by Southend United Community and Educational Trust as part of the Blues Fit for Life Programme.
Sessions cost £1 and have been running for the past five weeks.
Shirley Newton, 70, of Cambridge Road, Southend, who took part in the sessions, said: “I already walk with ramblers and play golf, but one of the best things about these classes is really nice people attend.”
Another retired member, Dennis Jensen, 77, of Leigh Cliff Road, Leigh, said: “I’m here to try and get fitter than I am at the moment, and also to learn how to exercise properly.”
The sessions are funded by Turning Tides Neighbourhood Management Partnership project.
