COUPLES can now officially say “I do” at one of Basildon’s most cherished beauty spots.

Wat Tyler Park, in Pitsea Hall Lane, Pitsea, has been granted a full wedding licence allowing couples to tie the knot, and have their wedding breakfast and evening reception there as well.

The £2.2million Wat Tyler Centre opened last summer and has hosted wedding breakfasts and receptions ever since.

Now couples can have their ceremony there too, after the Essex County Council registrar granted a full licence. Kevin Blake, Basildon councillor responsible for said: “Wat Tyler Country Park is the ideal location for a couple’s special day, and we are delighted we can now offer the full wedding package.

“The country landscape in the park provides a stunning backdrop for photos, and kids can also keep themselves occupied in the nearby adventure playground.

“We will be offering the 18th century barn as a ceremony venue or one of the suite of rooms in the Wat Tyler Centre.

“We also have the renovated cottages and Dutch barn as a backdrop, making this one of the best venues in the area to get married.”

Other facilities include a hall with seating for 120 people and space for up to 200 evening guests.
