A 12-year-old from Leigh has been crowned Junior MasterChef 2010 champ.

Georgia Bradford cooked up a storm on CBBC's version of the popular MasterChef show and scooped first prize.

The Southend High School for Girls pupil, who said she would love to prepare a meal for her heartthrob, Canadian pop star Justin Bieber, was awarded the trophy by judges restaurateur John Torode and former Celebrity MasterChef winner and presenter Nadia Sawalha.

The talented chef, who started cooking when she was only six, said she has ambition to open her own restaurant one day.

She first took to the kitchen after her mum threw away her fake play food.

She said: "One day my mum chucked it away and I was really upset.

"She couldn't find another one and so I ended up cooking with real food instead.

“I definitely want to be a chef when I am older, as I believe you should do a job you love and I adore cooking.

"After going on MasterChef I have proved to myself that being a chef is what I am going to do with my life.”

As part of the contest, Georgia prepared lunch for Doctor Who star Matt Smith and also cooked for boyband JLS.

Judge Nadia Sawalha said: "Georgia is so passionate about food. She loves being in the kitchen and she deserves to be champion of Junior MasterChef."
