A TEENAGER is facing jail for killing a cyclist in a road accident.
Nigel Garett, 43, died in the horrific crash in Lifstan Way, Southchurch, in the early hours of July 4, last year.
He was hit by a Vauxhall Astra being driven dangerously by William Nash, 19.
Nash appeared at Basildon Crown Court on Friday to admit a charge of causing death by dangerous driving.
Andrew Jackson, prosecuting, said Nash already had points on his licence after being caught doing 95mph on the A13 in May last year.
David Ewings, in mitigation, said Nash had some mental health problems, and asked for an adjournment for a pre-sentence report.
Mr Garrett, a DJ, who lived in Newington Avenue, Southend, died at the scene.
Floral tributes were left by the roadside following the crash along with messages from his devastated family.
Nash, of Seaview Drive, Great Wakering, will be sentenced at the court next month.
