A MAN arrested on suspicion of trying to kidnap schoolgirls has had his bail extended.

Police began investigating the 22-year-old after approaches were made to young girls in Benfleet and Canvey.

There were seven separate incidents reported in March and April.

The last attack was in Shipwrights Drive, Thundersley, when a BMW pulled up along-side a 14-year-old girl.

The driver tried to entice her into the car but then gave up and drove away.

Worried parents had also reported their children had been approached in Thorney Bay Road and at Castle Point golf course.

The suspect, who lives on Canvey, has had his bail extended until October 20.
