THE transformation of Warrior Square is pressing ahead as contractors begin building a cafe.
Work on the £1.8million regeneration plan for the Southend town centre square started in July and is due to be completed by the spring.
Ground work on the flower-lined walkways began in September and the external structure of the cafe, with a flower shaped roof, which will be in the centre of the park, is being built.
The metal roof will open up like a flower when it is in use during the day and close at night.
The redevelopment also includes a tree-lined walkway and new lighting.
The team of workers spent two months completing the bulk of the underground work. They finished the floral walk path, at the southern side of the park at the end of last year.
