A GANG which carried out a string of SAS-style robberies, including an attempted robbery on Canvey, have been sentenced.

Six of seven convicted men were sentenced yesterday to a total of more than 90 years.

It was for carrying out robberies across east London, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk.

The gang targeted building societies while dressed in black uniforms and wearing balaclavas.

On September 28, 2009, they escaped empty-handed from the Halifax in Furtherwick Road, Canvey, after a foiled robbery.
