Nigel Smith
FORMER Basildon Labour group leader Nigel Smith has won back the Lee Chapel North seat. Mr Smith, who returns to politics after a year's absence won with 1,408 votes ahead of Tory candidate Christine Hedley with 740. Labour's Richard Rackham previously held the seat but did not stand for re-election. Tory Jilly Hyde held the Laindon Park seat with 1,318 votes ahead of Labour at 1,166.
